The Sony Ericsson W980i is a 3G Walkman® music phone which comes in a highly attractive clamshell opening handset. The casing is both fashionable to look at as well as practical to use. The external casing comes with easy to use external music keys which are circular in design & situated on the front of the W980i which adds to the overall design of this stunning music phone. It comes with an external colour screen which allows the user to view their music information & calling information without opening the handset. This external screen displays 262k colours on a TFT display with a 176 pixel by 176 pixel screen resolution. The casing is slim & comes with a smooth piano black coloured coating which makes the handset smooth to hold & adds to its sleek design. This clamshell opening phone is only 17mm in depth, 46mm in width & 92mm in height with a total weight of 100 grams. A subtle but effective see through section situated at the bottom of the clamshell casing makes this handset stand out in design. When the Sony Ericsson W980i is opened the user can view the large 2.2 Inch colour screen which has a screen resolution of 240 pixels by 320 pixels & displays up to 262k colours on a TFT screen. The circular theme continues when the W980i is in its opened position with a circular navigation key, short cut keys, circular call keys & a keypad with individual circular keys. This fashionable handset comes with an auto rotate feature which allows the user to use the W980i in either horizontal or vertical mode by simply rotating the handset. The built in Walkman® music player is the main feature on Sony Ericsson W980i which comes with true & clear sound quality. The user can listen to their music whilst the handset is closed & view all their music information on the external screen. The W980i Walkman® music player comes with easy to use external music controls which allow the user to play, fast forward & rewind their music. The user can create playlists & shuffle their music playlists for a new playback experience. The phone supports Bluetooth® stereo (A2DP) technology which allows the user to enjoy wireless when listening to music player. A built in radio feature supports RDS which allows the user to read text information on the screen whilst listening to the FM radio feature. A shake control feature on the W980i allows the user to shake the handset to change the song they are listening to. The phone supports a built in PlayNow™ music feature allows the user to download new songs in just three clicks of a button which is the quickest & easy way to download music. The PlayNow™ feature is available depending on the user's network provider & the user's location. The TrackID™ music recognition feature is a popular & fun feature which allows the user to find out the name of the song, the name of the artist or band performing the song & the album on which the song is from by recording a few seconds worth of the song they like the sound of. The Gracenote Mobile MusicID service will provide all this information to the user within seconds. The Sony Ericsson W980i comes with a SensMe™ music feature which lets the user create playlists based on the style & tempo of their music. The user can create SensMe™ playlists to suit their mood.


This W980i 3G music phone comes with a huge amount of built in memory which allows the user to store all their new music with ease. The phone comes with 8 gigabytes of internal user's memory. This stunning phone is a 3G HSDPA handset which provides the user with high speed connectivity & data transfer speeds. The user can enjoy a 3G video call with other compatible contacts which is a great way to have a face to face call with others. The W980i supports EDGE technology which allows the user to experience quick data transfer rates. A rechargeable battery is easy to charge using the phone charged provided & when fully charged the battery will provide the user with up to 9 hours of GSM talk time or up to 300 hours of standby time. The Bluetooth® wireless technology complete with A2DP support allows the user to enjoy a wireless connection between their Sony Ericsson W980i & other Bluetooth® compatible devices. A USB connection point allows the user to use a USB cabled connection between the W980i & other USB compatible devices when transferring files & data. A text message service allows the user to communicate with others using text input which can be shared with any text messaging compatible user. A multimedia messaging service allows the user to enjoy messages with either video or pictures which is a fun way to share experiences with other compatible multimedia messaging contacts. The instant messaging service works like an online chat between compatible users that are online at the same time as each other. The email service on the Sony Ericsson W980i allows the user to send & receive emails on this stylish handset even when the user is away from their home or office computer. The messaging services come complete with a predictive text input option feature which allows the user to type words by using less keys as the predictive text service will finish each word as the user starts to type it. The Sony Ericsson W980i comes with useful call features which includes a speaker phone feature & a vibration alert feature. The speaker phone feature allows the user to take a call handsfree by using the speakers to hear their contact talking to them which allows the user to rest their handset on their table or desk whilst talking. The vibration alert function can be set to gently vibrate the handset when a call or new messages comes in so therefore the user does not need to be disturbed by loud ringtones but instead a vibration with alert the user of new calls & messages.

iPhone is winning the Mobile Browser war, Nokia and the rest are falling behind
